Holistic Health

Holistic Health and Wellness through body, mind and soul.

When treating a client holistically, it means to treat them as a human being who is presenting with the symptoms, rather than just treating the symptoms in isolation.

physiotherapy-holistic-healing-wetherby-yorkshire-1The word holistic, takes its origins from the greek word holos, meaning whole. Here in the West many medical professionals give exactly the same remedies to all of their patients suffering from the same symptoms. Often, little or no attempt, is made to diagnose each individuals underlying state of health, or even the source of the complaint.

To treat holistically, a medical professional would have to work in a much more individual and integral way. Working not only with the physical but also the psychological, emotional and spiritual aspects of a human being too.

Chuang Tse (4th BC), a leading Taoist thinker, wrote, “Natures differ, and needs with them. Hence, the wise men of old did not lay down one measure for all.”

20 plus years qualified as a Physiotherapist, Angela still has and uses these skills and knowledge to treat injury and pain, and does so very successfully.

However, it is through extensive professional and personal experience, along with her passion for working with wellness of the human body, that she has come to know the body and mind are not independent of each other. Thus both need to be considered and addressed when looking at our whole wellbeing.

Ways of treating and managing our health in a holistic way

Other than the bodywork and synergistic healing, which are ‘hands on’ therapy, all are initially facilitated through guided practice. This could be in a 1-1 session, a weekly class or a days workshop.

Through bodywork and varying mindful awareness practices, we can begin to explore and experience life as it is, rather than through a mental concept or a belief of how think you believe it “should be’.

The ultimate aim of any work that we do together, is to empower the client. To help them find a greater ‘Sense of Ease’ within and outside of themselves.

Testimonial

I was transferred to Angela by my chiropractor. She thought that Cranio sacral therapy would be more beneficial to me as I had recently been diagnosed with Spinal Stenosis. I was amazed at just how gentle and soothing this treatment was, yet in the results it achieved, both powerful and life changing. I think of Angela as a miracle worker as it seemed to me that each time I went to her for therapy I came away refreshed, relaxed, with so much less pain as well as most importantly hope. The treatment not only greatly reduced the pain but also changed the way I thought about it and dealt with it between therapy sessions.During the time I was having the treatment I learnt so much about my own body and how my attitude to it could affect it both physically and emotionally.

Angela is caring, intuitive, empathetic and supportive. She listened to my concerns and problems, greatly reduced my stress and anxiety, and with her healing hands worked miracles. I can honestly say she changed my life for the better and she has my respect, admiration and gratitude for the difference she has made to my life.
